The Israel Festival is proud to host a salute The Clique, the legendary 1980’s indie phenomenon that paved the way and set the bar for the indie rock scene in Israel. Tackling Israeli reality with no holds barred, the band’s rebellious musical style and biting lyrics were perhaps best captured in the hit song “Don’t Light a Candle for Me,” which became an anthem of soldiers fighting in Lebanon.
Five leading indie bands — Vaadat Charigim (“Exceptions Committee”), Hamasach Halavan (“White Screen”), I Was a Bastard, Aviv Mark and HaNetzah (“Eternity”), and Hila Ruach — will play new arrangements of songs by the Clique as well as their own original material influenced by the band.
This cutting edge, rocking salute to The Clique marks the launch of a national tour of an Hamon Volume Production lineup of up and coming indie bands.
With: Vaadat Charigim, Hamasach Halavan, I Was a Bastard, Aviv Mark and HaNetzah, and Hila Rouach. that were influenced by The Clique — by its approach or its sound — have come to the Israel Festival to pay tribute to the founding fathers.
